Open source projects
Currently I am actively developing and supporting an open source project called “Netzke”.
Netzke
Netzke is a framework that is being developed to facilitate creation of RIA that use Ruby-on-Rails as their back-end, and Ext JS as their front-end (GUI). It allows developers to create reusable components (widgets), that can be easily integrated into Rails views, as well as used as a part of a desktop-like web-application. The framework provides both a consistent way of creating such widgets, and a set of pre-programmed, feature-reach, configurable (both statically and dynamically) widgets – such as GridPanel, FormPanel, BorderLayoutPanel, TabPanel, AccordionPanel, etc.
Netzke currently consists of 2 Ruby gems/Rails plugins: netzke-core, and netzke-basepack. The former provides the basis for creating Netzke widgets, the latter (which depends on the former) – a set of pre-programmed widgets mentioned before.
Note that Netzke is still immature and needs more development to make it production-ready. However, I know of several on-going attempts to use it as a 3rd party library for development.
Netzke has a Gougle Groups set-up for open discussions, and a live demo.
